Core: Dark Mode support for combo drop list boxes such as the file format and extensions buttons and improved support for some other controls. Some potential issues logging QuickView file paths fixed. Ability to QuickView using environment variable expanded paths added. Expandable groups (Global for example) now animate like buttons and other controls when hovering over them using their hot state. Theme dialog controls were not positioned and sized correctly. Updated logging system for improved stability across multi-process and plugins. SVG Changed to default to non-premultiply alpha. Potential issues rendering buttons without an assigned image in corner cases. Plugins Refer to the new Plugin example code on GitHub for reference: Plugins can now be configured using the Plugins dialog. Double clicking a plugin will open the configire dialog if the plugin supports configuration. Changed plugins to use transparency instead of checkerboard by default. With plugins you can now query the full path of the stream's file in case you have compound files requiring the path. Query the stream for IPersistFile and use GetCurFile. See the updated plugin source documentation for more details. There was an issue loading more than 1 plugin. Plugin loading added exception handling to attempt to continue loading other plugins if there is a fault in one. Loading plugins with DLL dependencies in the same directory should now work correctly. Reverting file formats or extensions to correct state if or not a plugin replacement is enabled. Improved resizing handles for resizable dialogs when they can only resize on one axis.Added information on plugin extensions already assigned to formats. Improved plugins dialog operations to check for existing extensions to avoid conflicts with existing registered extensions. Plugins have deprecated the older Initialize/Shutdown mechanism. Massive update for video game artists & studios. Added KTX1/KTX2 formats. Caveats may exist - see the next line. Translated some fixed English strings in the choose icon dialog. Choose icon dialog was not always opening the current icon library when browsing for a new file. Edit extensions dialog may have caused a clash / crash when reverting a file format's extensions to default and default extensions were already assigned to another file format. Some help pages - assign extensions, edit extensions - improved and updated. Some help links were broken. |

Massive update for video game artists & studios. Added KTX1/KTX2 formats. Caveats may exist - see the next line. Khronos KTX1 and KTX2 support added for you game texture artists. Being an extremely complex multiple format, support is limited but many common types are. Array and 3D textures are not supported for now. Some images may not work, display incorrectly or even crash Explorer. If that happens please send us a support request via our support page and attach some problem files. If you get crashes, disable Khronos format in the control panel until we can fix it. When generating thumbs for email or web files with sounds, a short clip of the sounds may have played. Ebook files better support finding their cover images. In QuickView, holding Control key and mouse wheel scrolling when in checkerboard mode will increase & decrease the checkerboard size.SoftImage support alpha. Code optimizations and refactorings. |

Fine tuning and a few added extras - look through the change list. When ths control panel is minimized (iconic) and it is asked to open from a context menu or otherwise, it will restore and show itself. Added Corona Image .cxr extension to the OpenEXR format. When opening QuickView files, if the file is unreadable, the QuickView window for that file will quit instead of opening a tiny, empty window. A bug when applying edited extensions through the dialog prevented them from changing. The edit extensions dialog would not show the reset to defaults for an extension where appropriate. When a file format has modified extensions from the default due to using the edit extensions dialog, the format now shows an indicator page character to inform the user. Fixed premultiplied HTML rendering. Cancel dialog is now minimizable. Potential memory leak with tooltips when theme changed. Potential but unlikely crash with icon conversion when filling out icon lists. Improved some icon rendering. Added new option with apply changes dialog to apply and enable refresh in the future. Added Apple Suite file type with key(note), numbers, and pages file types. |

New release schedule method. Minor version releases (patches) now replace prior minor versions for optimal management. Older minor versions will no longer be available. SVG images could display with unwanted scrollbars. Changed about window effect to a new one. Fixed about window effect to use proper VSync timing. It's now buttery smooth. When control panel logo or about window is completely hidden, updates are not performed to save energy. Fixed control panel logo update for visibility and improved it's performance for better power savings whilst active. 2025.5.1 Overhaul of version check changes dialog including cleaning up the layout, sizing the window and dark mode support. Popup sliders (gamma for example) and control panel screenshot may not have rendered correctly / fully. Incorrect seat count display in license dialog for some licenses. Applying / refreshing folders could have caused an infinite loop when trying to refresh .url links. Various optimizations and bug fixes. Web site dark mode implementation. |

Quality of life improvements and optimisations. Fixed handling of context menu / depth buffer handling to be consistent with other settings. Possible issue reading some file types when set to fallback mode for small icons. When taking a snapshot of the control panel via F10 for pasting into email or another app, you get a tooltip informing you. Disable small icons by default instead of fallback mode as some applications (MS Office classic apps specifically don't seem to follow the guidelines on how to work with shell extensions). Engage small icon fallback only where needed. Improved sampling tooltip text. Undone change that made all file formats enabled when opening control panel without a specific extension. Some Amiga IFF images would open in QuickView with incorrect aspect ratio. Show F5 shortcut in QuickView for 'Refresh' context menu option. Not showing depth buffer context menu when files are set to fallback or disabled. |

Quick fix on 2025.0.3 version to improve Explorer performance. Removed Explorer shell window refreshes after a large change that cause Explorer windows to go into "Working on it…" mode. These no longer seem to be required in the latest Windows 11 versions. In older versions after some changes you may need to manually hit F5 to refresh the window in some circumstances. 2025.0.3 After first time install, the control panel will suggest starting tutorial mode to help the user understand the control panel. It is recommended for all users to use tutorial mode at least once to understand how the control panel works. Performance option: Always transparent on desktop button now has a double click option to toggle recursing into desktop folders when performing a folder refresh / apply to refresh. The default is disabled for performance. Some control panel button states were not showing the correct icon representation. Blocked folder function was disabled. Regression from 2025.0.1. PaintShop Pro files were not working correctly. Regression from 2024.6.6. Small icons in list / details view were not correct when a file extension had a custom icon enabled with a non-zero index. Tip of the day now only shows once a day when the control panel is opened instead of every time it's opened (you know - because it's tip of the day). |

This version replaces 2025.0.1 due to the major bug fixed and the short time frame. Some file formats were showing as a folder as if they were an archive (zip) file, such as Office Open XML Word / Excel documents. Regression in 2025.0.1. Removed a spurious popup when updating from 2025.1.1 where it would say 'Uninstall Complete' and require user input, which is not required. Improved core performance. |
